The Astros jumped on the Red Sox starter early. Red Sox Martin Perez only pitched two innings, giving up six runs on six hits and three walks with only two strikeouts. The Astros won 7-1 in the end and now controls the series 4-1 on the season. They still come in as a surprising underdog in the sixth matchup. The Astros will send free agent signing Jake Odorizzi to the mound. Who has not been really that good at all. With a rough 0-3 record with a 7.16 ERA (16 1/3 IP, 13 ER), 1.47 WHIP, 3.9 BB/9 and 9.4 K/9 this year. He’s not been what the Astros expected that’s probably why they are an underdog. The Dbacks were looking good in April then the injury bug hit the pitching staff and put them in last place. Where they have stayed. How bad are the Dbacks injuries? Well they have Jon Duplantier taking the hill. Duplantier has been a bad 0-1, with a 9.35 ERA, 8 strikeouts in 8 2/3 IP over 2 starts. He has 7.71 ERA in his starts in Triple A. We all knew this series would go 6 or 7 games and certainly has lived up to the hype. Damian Lillard did all he could for the Blazers with three different threes in the final seconds to force overtime not once but twice. Lillard had a franchise-record 55 points, ten assists, six rebounds, three blocks, and twelve triples despite the 147-140 double overtime loss. Lillard was absolutely insane down the stretch. Scoring 17 of his team’s 19 points in overtime. If you watched the Lakers vs Suns Game 5 then this game you’d think Lebron James and Lillard deserved each other. They can only do so much. We hit on them last time so we will go back to the well. The Nats took game two and three to go for the 3-1 series win against their division rivals on Thursday afternoon. They will be sending former really good pitcher Patrick Corbin to the mound. Corbin has struggled in 2021 being 3-4 in his starts with a 6.23 ERA. Yeah not good. Corbin has allowed five first innings home runs in 2021. He only allowed six his first nine years. When Corbin is bad he gets bad fast. Can Corbin bounce back? In a way. The Braves took game one 5-3 that still leaves them three and a half games behind the Mets for the NL East. While the loss knocked the Nats seven games back in last place in the NL East. The Nationals will look to bounce back against Braves starter Max Fried. Fried has pitched very well lately for the Braves. The lefty in his last four starts has gone 2-1 record, with a 1.80 ERA. Fried won’t be asked to go long with how well the Braves bullpen has pitched but that doesn't mean he can’t go deep we are saying he won’t.
