Goat Talk MLB Bets 5/26/2021
4-2 yesterday on MLB picks (Should of picked Phillies like I originally wrote down)
Mets vs Rockies
Mets ML -138
Under 6.5
The Mets will be taking on the Rockies in the third game of a four game set. The Rockies took game one but then behind Jacob Degrom the Mets took game two. Not a lot of offense in either one of those games. The Mets will send Marcus Stroman to the mound tonight. Stroman is 3-4 with a 2.73 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 7.4 K/9, and 1.9 BB/9 in 52 2/3 IP over 10 starts. Which means to me the Rockies are going to fight for runs again. Then the Rockies are throwing German Marquez who is 3-4 with a 4.82 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, 9.6 K/9, and 5.2 BB/9 in 52 1/3 IP over 10 starts. Which to most teams would not book me for the over however the Mets IL is an All Star team. Their lineup is a AAA team quite literally. The Mets have been hurt and that has hurt their already struggling offense. Both starters will get ground balls against these struggling offenses. Rockies offense hits .267 at home but on the road they hit .203. They are in Citi Field not home tonight. Against an ace on some teams. Going against the Mets 28th ranked offense. Definitely back the Mets to squeeze out a victory with Stroman but bet the under.
Reds vs Nats
Over 10
You see the number ten is a big number to bet the over on but to be honest you should be more confident here than most of the time. For one the Reds have top of the line offense but bottom of the barrel pitching. While the Nats are average at hitting but outside of Mad Max can’t get a good start. The Nats will be sending Joe Ross who has struggled in 2021 being 2-4 with a 5.72 ERA, and 36 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings pitched. Ross didn’t look great last time out in Chicago where he only 3 2/3 innings, surrendering two earned runs while allowing five hits. Not good numbers and odds against a Reds offense that ranks eighth in the league runs scored, third in home runs, and fourth in slugging percentage. The Reds will jump on Ross. Jeff Hoffman will take the ball for the Reds in just 39.2 innings he’s 3-3 with a 4.31 ERA. Hoffman pitched well last time out against the Brewers Hoffman threw for one earned run on two hits in five innings. Don’t expect that back to back performance. The Nats offense batting average ranks third and are fourteenth in slugging percentage. Both teams will come out swinging except a barn burner in Washington tonight.
Royals vs Rays
Under 8.5
Most would say why would you pick the under of the Rays offense is so hot? Especially when the Royals are sending Mike Minor to the mound. Who has a bad 2021 with an ERA of 5.14 and 3-2 record. The opposing offenses are hitting .235 against Minor, and only averages 5 innings a start. Minor probably will get beat up against a Rays lineup that ranks eighth in the MLB in average home runs a game, that is currently on an 11-1 run while batting .292 and averaging 8.6 runs per game over that span. Yes the Rays offense will get to the Royals. However don’t expect them to win 9-0, 8-1, or 7-2. Expect them to win more like 5-0. The Rays will send Tyler Glasnow to the mound who has been good for the red hot Rays being 4-2 with a 2.90 ERA and 87 strikeouts through 62 innings pitched in 2021. His last start was bad against the Blue Jays only going 4 2/3 innings, surrendering five earned runs while giving up nine hits. The Royals offense is bad they rank in the bottom five in the league in average, home runs, and slugging percentage. Royals stole game one 2-1. Expect the Rays to bounce back in a simple way. Bet the under.
