               Wildcard Preview Ravens vs Titians

The Ravens and Titians will be playing in the first highly anticipated Sunday Wildcard game at 1:05 pm EST. This will be the third matchup between Baltimore and Tennessee in one years. The Titians won the first matchup last divisional round when they upset the Ravens 28-12 in Baltimore. Then the Titians won in the 2020 regular season in November in an OT finish 30-24. However the third matchup both teams are in different places then they were the last two. The Ravens in the first were clear favorites. Now it’s a toss up because Tennessee apparently has the style for Baltimore. Also Tennessee is the division winner hosting the playoff game not Baltimore. Raven’s QB 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson has some added pressure not just losing to the Titians three straight times but also if he loses he’ll be the first MVP QB since 1966 to be 0-3 in his first three appearances. The Ravens are hot coming into the matchup. Started at 6-5 on the cusp of missing the playoffs. The Ravens went on a five game winning streak to finish at 11-5 and grab the first wildcard. The Titians are 3-2 in their last five games and just clinched the AFC South with a bank shot from their back up kicker in the last second win against the Texans in Week 17. If it wasn’t for Ryan Tannehill’s beautiful thrown ball with a minute left to go they probably wouldn’t be here. Of course the Ravens will have to keep tabs on who beat them the last two contests, the seventh player ever to get 2,000 rushing yards in a season Derrick Henry. The Ravens ranks 8th in the NFL in run defense to be honest to me it doesn’t really matter how good you are at stopping the run against Henry. He will run for 70+ yards regardless. In my opinion you have to try to stop him like the Packers, hold him under 100 yards then force Tannehill to throw over twenty-five throws with little play action. Tennessee play action game is a big apart of their game. If you take that away or slow Henry down the Ravens will roll over the Titians. Tennessee 28th ranked defense can’t stop anyone lately and I don’t think they’ll stop the number rushing team in the league. Yes the Ravens have the most yards per game rushing the ball Tennessee is second. There will be a scoring contest but both teams will look to hold the ball. Tennessee doesn’t do that well they are ranked 28th in time of possession. Since the Ravens will want that defense off the field and Henry not on they’ll really look to keep their defense on the sideline. They are 7th in time of possession. However they can’t give Tennessee second chances Baltimore has had that problem in 2020 being 28th in penalties. Giving Henry more rushing chances is a no go in a third matchup. Run tackling is all will and wanting to do it Henry roughing up a secondary with second chances makes it that much harder for Baltimore. Tennessee will not give the Ravens those second chances if you asked me they are second in not giving the ball away, and they run the ball to much, and Henry doesn’t fumble. Both are running teams, with dynamics QBs, and to me it comes down to what defense gets the stop. If asked me it’s the Ravens they are the seventh ranked defense in yards per game and second in points allowed. The Ravens and Titians will duke it out for a whole game but the Ravens will get that stop in my opinion. Let me know yours.
