The Trilogy in New Orleans, Buccaneers vs Saints in the Final Divisional Round Matchup Preview
The final Divisional Round NFL Playoff game at 6:40 pm est which also be a trilogy matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Orleans Saints. The new look Tom Brady Buccaneers come rolling into New Orleans coming off a little bit to close for comfort 31-23 win over the Washington Football in the Wildcard round. The Buccaneers played on the road due to the fact they were a wildcard winner not the division winner like the Saints. Now Brady will go on the road for his second straight playoff game. Which is something their is no way he is used to but sure doesn’t matter to the six time Super Bowl champion. The Saints had a competitive game against the 8-8 Chicago Bears in the wildcard round at home. The game was 7-3 at the half the Saints went on to win 21-9 but they didn’t look great. Drew Brees was showing his age in that contest. The Saints won both matchups against the Bucs in the regular season. The first matchup the Saints won in week one 34-23 and then destroyed the Bucs the second outing with a 38-3 win in Tampa. The Saints did exactly what you need to do to beat the Bucs pressure the quarterback. Brady is not 28 anymore he could barley move then now he really can’t move. The Saints will be with key player DE Trey Hendrickson, he was battling injury all week but ruled active on Sunday morning. Cameron Jordan and Hendrickson will cause fits for the Bucs offensive line. Which isn’t easy to do but they did last contest. Hendrickson had two sacks on Brady in the second matchup. The Bucs know how to beat the Saints as well though they need to just execute. Guess what it is. That’s right you guessed it pressure Brees. That’s what happens when you get two legendary forty year old quarterbacks that can’t move well. You need to not let them get in rhythm. The Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles doesn’t like for any quarterback to feel comfort as he called the most blitzes on the season. He used linebackers Lavonte David and Devin White often. Jason Pierre-Paul All-Pro season has also made it easier for Bowles to put in his game plan with the pressure off the edge. The Saints have the better defense but not by much. They are the fourth ranked defense and the Bucs are sixth ranked. Both have good offensive lines it will come down to who’s pressure can get to the quarterback, if either one can. The Buccaneers got good news for the offense as running back Ronald Jones II is ruled active. He is their main running back but with all their weapons on offense Jones will be more to worry about for New Orleans. Jones also has the ability to take the pressure off Brady through play action if he can get going. It still will be tough, the Saints are fourth in the league at defending the run. The defense of the Bucs however got to take some ibuprofen for the game because headache Taysom Hill is ruled out, along with running back Lataviuts Murray. Hill an athlete player that Sean Payton loves to use for wildcats and other trick plays. He can also chuck it 40-50 yards which really helps. The Bucs can put all those play packages to the side. It also puts more pressure on Drew Brees but also Alvin Kamara. Without Murray, Kamara will get 90% of the runs while also being apart of the receiving game. If the Bucs can take away Kamara which will be easier without Murray but not easy at all they win the game. Michael Thomas is an amazing receiver for the Saints but Brees can’t throw the pigskin over the top anymore like he used too. Big plays need to come in other ways especially without Hill. Expect screens and check downs to Kamara all night. Both teams know each other. The Saints are 2-0 in their two contest. It’s really hard to beat an NFL team especially a good one with Tom Brady, Mike Evans, Chris Goodwin, and others twice but three times that’s extremely tough. It will be a close in New Orleans. Nonetheless Brady will show why he won Brady and Brees era of quarterbacks. Bucs go to conference championship 31-28
