Rams vs Seahawks NFL Playoff Preview
Rams vs Seahawks NFL Playoff Preview
The second matchup of the NFL Playoffs at 4:40 est on Saturday is a tiebreaker or the trilogy fight between the Rams and the Seahawks. The Rams won the first matchup in LA and the Seahawks won the second in Seattle. However the third matchup is a much different look than the first two. For one the biggest shot to the Rams in this one is that starting QB Jared Goff is probably not going to play. As a report came out on January 4th saying Goff playing “Is a long shot.” The Rams are a passing team they are on the top side of passing attempts in the league ranking 12th. Goff’s backup John Wolford got an ugly win to clinch the playoff spot last week against the Cardinals. The Rams will depend on running back Cam Akers and that number 1 defense in points allowed, yards allowed, and passing yards allowed per game. The Rams will need to take advantage against the Russell Wilson’s cooking offense. They have to keep Wilson on the sidelines. LA is 19th in Red Zone scoring percentage they’ll have to be better. Anytime they are in the red zone they need 6 because those opportunities will be limited. They are however 3rd on third down conversions they will need to be this good on Saturday Goff or not. Sean Mcvay can make the offense work against a 22nd ranked Seattle defense. The Seahawks really only good defensive stat is they are 13th in run defense which will be a problem since the Rams will look to kill the clock with Akers. Also with the addition of Carlos Dunlap at the trade deadline to Seattle has made that defense a lot better. They are able to get in the opposing QBs face a lot better than they were before. Dunlap will be a big problem for Wolford. Just like Aaron Donald will be a huuuuuuge problem for Seattle’s Russell Wilson. Donald will obviously be a way bigger problem since he blows up the middle of the field and is the best defensive player in the league by a lot. Rams will run, click the clock, take advantage of their opportunities , and depend on that top flight defense led by Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey to hold off Seattle. They’ll look for a game Seattle had with San Francisco in week 17. Seattle will look to get in the face of Wolford causing him to make young mistakes, take Akers away and make Wolford throw the ball. Field goals are big deal in this one so anyway Wilson can lead his offense down the field and score it’s a step closer to victory. Seattle will run to the outside a lot, jet sweeps, RPO’s, stretches, play action to keep Donald controlled as much as they can. They will have to avoid giving Cris Carson the ball. Their offensive line isn’t good enough to run the ball a 1000 times. Wilson will have a lot slants because the Rams will be in his face. This game is better than most think even without Goff out should be fun regardless if you’re asking me. Anytime an NFL team sees someone three times it’s fun you know each other.
Prediction: The Rams will play the game they wanted for a good portion of the game. At some point thought Wilson will do Russell Wilson thing and take his team on his back in a offense friendly league. Rams win this in the 80s but now Seattle will take it pretty handily.
24-10 Seattle Seahawks over LA Rams
