The Top 10 Worst Botched Field Goals Ever

10.Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo drops snap Wildcard round (2006)- In the Wildcard round of 2006 the Cowboys were at Seattle. With 1:19 left in the 4th the Cowboys lines up to take a game leading field goal 19 yards away. The kicker Josh Brown was the most clutch kicker that season. Turns out not to be his fault. Romo fumbled the snap as the holder. Then tried to run into the end zone but was tackled at the 1.

9.Chicago Bears Cody Parkey 2018 Wildcard round- Yes Bears Cody Parkey has already caught himself on the list. With a 10 seconds left on the clock, 16-15 Eagles the Bears went to go to their kicker for the win. It was a 43 yard kick to take the Bears to Los Angeles with a date with the Rams in the divisional round. That date won’t happen as Parkey hits the left goal post and on the drop also hits the crossbar to make it seem so close but so far.

8.Nate Kaeding, San Diego Chargers, 2010 AFC Divisional round- In a game against the Jets that many thought would come down to Special Teams sure did. Nate Kaeding had the worst day there for the Chargers. He missed two field goals from 36 and 57. Now with 4:47 left in the game, Jets up 17-7 the Chargers looked to get closer to the tie. Kaeding had other ideas as he missed his third field goal of the day this one from 40. The Chargers would lose 17-14.

7.Doug Brien, Jets, 2005 AFC Divisional Round- In this scenario it’s not one but two late game missed field goals that costed the game. The Jets and Steelers were tied with two minutes left to go when Jets kicker Doug Brien hits the goal post from 47 yards to keep the game tied. However when Ben Roethlisberger threw an interception Brien had another chance. This time he wasn’t he close he hits far left from 43 yards sending the game to OT where the Jets would lose by.....a field goal.

6.Blair Walsh, Vikings, 2016 NFC Wild Card Round- The Vikings and Seahawks were in an absolute dog fight in the first playoff game. The score was 10-9 Seahawks with 26 second left to go. Walsh scored all of the 9 points for the Vikings that day. He just had to score one last one. Well he wouldn’t be on this list if he made it. From 27 yards away Walsh kicks wide left to send the Vikings home.

5.Jan Stenerud, Kansas City Chiefs, 1971 AFC Divisional Round- In the longest NFL game ever between the Chiefs vs Dolphins a Hall Famer came up short. The day was very muddy but that was no excuse for the loss. Jan Stenerud Chiefs kicker only had to hit a 31 yard field goal to win the football game and go to the AFC Championship game. He missed that short range field goal to force overtime. Then from 42 yards away the biggest one he got blocked. Leading to Miami winning the game.

4.Billy Cundiff, Baltimore Ravens, 2012 AFC Championship- With 15 seconds left the Patriots were up 23-20 at home. The cold Gillette Stadium as nervous as the day is long. Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff came out to tie the game from 32 yards. Cundiff was Blair Walsh before Walsh. Cundiff hooked the ball left sending the Patriots to the AFC Championship game.

3.Mike Vanderjagt, Indianapolis Colts, 2006 AFC Divisional Round-The Colts were on their way to a comeback on the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2nd half. The Steelers couldn’t stop Peyton Manning and the offense in the 2nd half. Now down 21-18 with 30 seconds remaining the Colts put out kicker Mike Vanderjagt to force OT. He missed the field goal then after the game choked a middle school kid after he mocked him.

2.Gary Anderson, Vikings, 1999 NFC Championship- That season was a special season for the Vikings. They were 15-1, Randy Moss took over the scene as the best receiver in the game, Viking’s kicker Gary Anderson went 94 for 94 on field goals attempts and extra points, becoming the first kicker to go a full season without missing. He chose the worst time to miss his first field goal. Anderson missed with 2:29 left in the NFC Championship game. Giving the Falcons a chance to tie the game with a touchdown then later winning in overtime.

1.Scott Norwood, Bills, 1991 Super Bowl- The famous Good Ole Wide Right. The Bills went to the Super Bowl four times in a row coming up short all four times. Somethings need to not go in their direction for that to happen. This is one of those moments. With 8 seconds left the Giants were up 20-19 when the Bills had the ball. From 47 yards away all Norwood have to do is hit this field goal to bring home the title. Norwood shanks it right putting the first heartbreaking loss of the four away making the Giants world champions.
