Thank You Rose for At Least One Last Reminder
Last night for many young to mid age basketball fans a blast from the past that we all enjoyed happened. On October 31st, 2018 Derrick Rose walked into the Target Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota a regular sixth man and back up point guard. His whole career fans have always wondered who could have been? What if those countless knee injuries to the explosive point guard out of Memphis never happened? That’s basically sums up Rose’s career. One of the biggest question marks in NBA history. Many Rose fans and just fans in general have all seen how hard Rose has worked to get back to that 2010-2011 MVP form. After that ACL tear that sidelined Rose for 2012-2013 season we wondered if he ever be the same? He wasn’t after missing that whole season he only played ten games in 2013-2014. He played fifty-one games in 2014-2015 where we saw a flash of the past when Rose hits that game winner in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals to put the Chicago Bulls up 2-1 on the Lebron James Cavaliers; they would go on to lose that series. Then after Rose departed from Chicago to go to New York in 2016 we thought maybe the Garden could resurgence Rose. That year in the Garden playing for the Knicks he averaged the most point for a season since the injuries with eighteen points per game. Then last season where fans hoped that a move to Cleveland playing alongside Lebron James kind of already knowing that Rose we all wanted was gone but maybe a ring to give him something for what his career should of been. Then with injuries sidelining him again then eventually the break up of the Cavs where they sent Rose to Jazz where he was immediately released. The next questions were where would Rose go next? Was this the end of Rose? Would he just be one of those veteran free agents that gets released mid season to never been heard of again? Well no he signs with the Timberwolves where his former Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau coaches now and is trying to get the band back together. Maybe that’s exactly what Rose needed for his career. In Minnesota’s five games in the playoffs Rose played well with averaging 14.6 points per game. Last night however a night that Rose will remember forever . For some it was just a normal Halloween but many basketball fans we all got to be kids again. We all got updates on our phone that read “Derrick Rose has thirty five points through three quarters” as we all went to look at our phones with a sense of disbelief. Is this really happening? Rose would tack on fifteen more points from there giving the Timberwolves the win as well with a game ending block. Rose finished last night with the stat line 50 points, 6 assists, and 4 rebounds while shooting 4/7 from three. It’s a night that brought us back to when Rose was averaging 20+ plus points 6+ assists every night. We can’t expect something like this often from him but that moment of everyone going on Twitter or wherever and saying the words “Is Rose back?” I’m sure that night means the world to him and every Rose fans that stayed loyal to the All-Star. Rose thank you for reminding us that you really could of been a G.O.A.T. but your fight and work ethic to get back is something we should admire. Thank you Rose for at least one more time 🌹
