Top 10 Contenders for the Heisman

College Football season is just around the corner. It’s now time for our Top 10 Players you should look for to have a spectacular season and make a Heisman Trophy run.

  • 10. QB Justin Herbert (Oregon): Oregon without Herbert and with him are two different teams and last year showed this. Before breaking his collarbone the Ducks were 6-2. After he did they went 1-4 in his absence. He was on track for a star season with Oregon’s high pace and attacking offense, expect Herbert to finally break out. Even more and make a run for the Heisman especially if Oregon is doing well during the season.
  • 9. QB Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama): Everyone and their mother that watches college football knows about what is going on in Alabama. Tagovailoa came in at the half in his freshman year at the National Championship game against Georgia, and willed the Crimson Tide to a comeback for the title. Jalen Hurts a star by himself may have to take a back seat to this kid. Let the quarterback controversy begin. It appears Tagovailoa will be the starter with a whole lot of talent in himself and around him. You can put him in contention for the Heisman because of these things especially if they are on path for a National title.
  • 8. QB Kelly Bryant (Clemson): Clemson was still in National Title contention even after losing DeShaun Watson. Bryant was a reason for this production. He is a threat on the ground and air as a dual threat quarterback just like Watson. He may not have the IQ like Watson but still very talented. Will need to improve significantly on a 13-8 TD-INT ratio while also holding off exciting freshman Trevor Lawrence as the Tigers' starter, if he is to contend for the Heisman. I expect him to that’s why he is on the list.
  • 7. QB Trace Mcsoley (Penn State): Barkley may be gone and their offensive coordinator may have taken a job at Mississippi State but the Nittany Lions have a power offense. Especially with Mcsoley being there. Last year he threw for 3,570 yards and 28 touchdowns while completing 66.5 percent of his passes. He had 491 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground as well. For him to stay in contention for the Heisman Penn State must be in playoff contention or the blame will go on him.
  • QB Khalil Tate (Arizona): Tate was a call off the bench and what a decision it was for the Arizona Wildcats. In that game he rushed for 327 yards which was a FBS record for a quarterback in a single game. At the end of the year he had 12 rushing touchdowns and 1,353 rushing yards, big numbers on the ground by the quarterback. He still threw for 1,591 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. Room to improve but he can run so if he gets poise in the pocket with good decision making, and looks to throw while running he can be a huge threat.
  • 5. QB Shea Patterson (Michigan): Patterson is a quarterback with top level talent that suffered a season ending knee injury. He was averaging 300 yards per game for the first seven games before the injury. Last season he was an Ole Miss Rebel now he is a Michigan Wolverine with the best quarterback whisper as his coach. What I hear is Patterson is the real deal. I expect him to be especially with game planning by John Harbaugh he could be Heisman bound.
  • 4. DT Ed Oliver (Houston): Ed Oliver maybe the best player in college football on both sides of the ball. Whoever gets the chance to draft him gets Pro Bowl talent defensive lineman for the next 10-15 years. The only five star recruit in the last 15 seasons that chose outside the top five power conferences. For Houston in his first two seasons he has 39.5 tackles for a loss. He has sacked Lamar Jackson and Baker Mayfield so running down quarterbacks is not an issue for this defensive lineman. The 290 pound d line man is hungry and always lets the opposing quarterback he is there, and will continue to this season.
  • 3. RB Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin): Jonathan Taylor was only a freshman last year when he was running the ball down defenses throats last year. Taylor ran for 1,977 yards which was the best ran by freshman since Adrain Peterson, even breaking Peterson record for yards by a freshman. Taylor ran for 13 touchdowns but had a problem with fumbles. If he changes the turnover problem and with his offensive line coming back see a even better Jonathan Taylor.
  • 2. QB Will Grier (West Virginia): You know how some stars are covered up by bigger stars? Well that’s Grier but with Mayfield and Mason Rudolph gone it’s time for Grier to shine in the Big 12. Dana Holgorsen will have a high flying offensive approach this year. Giving Grier the chance to show his talents and pad his stats. Grier has bounced back well since being suspended at Florida and is looking to finish his college career on a high note. He threw for 3,500 yards with 34 touchdowns last year so he’s already proven he can put up big numbers now it’s time to put it all together.
  • 1. RB Bryce Love (Stanford): The runner up for the award last year look for Love to be the favorite this year. He was on an ankle injury but still ran for 2,118 yards and 19 touchdowns. He decided to stay for a final year with an elite offensive line. He broke an FBS record with 13 rushes for 50 yards or more. David Shaw will depend on his small explosive running back a lot during the season. Love has a chance to shine in a non-conference game against Notre Dame on September 29th on national television be sure to tune in.
