Angels vs Blue Jays Game 1

Over 7.5 -115

The line being 7.5 seems very low to me and we should capitalize. The Angels are sending Chris Rodriguez to the mound for his second start of the season. He lost in his first. However he didn’t look terrible going six innings allowing three earned runs. He will have a tall task against him as the Blue Jays rank second in slugging percentage, second in home runs, and third in total hits and runs. The Blue Jays can get going fast. Rodriguez will have to have a great game to slow down the offense in game 1. Which we have our doubts on. Good news for him is we have our doubts about Blue Jays starter Steven Matz as well. Matz as well comes into today’s game with an ERA above four with a 4.30 ERA in 96.1 IP. Matz looked great last time out against the Indians, allowing 0 runs in his six innings of work. The Angels offense however will make Matz work has well. Ranking eighth in the league in slugging percentage, sixth in batting average, and eighth in home runs. The Angels offense is one of the league’s best just like the Blue Jays. That’s why it’s hard for me to believe these teams score  a combined 8 runs today. Take the over, trust me.

Phillies vs Dodgers

Phillies +138 ML

Under 8.5 -104

We have a great pitching matchup in the Dodgers Phillies game tonight. We have Mad Max Schezer going against Aaron Nola. Schezer came over to the Dodgers at the deadline and has been good as advertised. He’s going for his tenth win on the season where he has an overall record of 9-4. He has a below three ERA with a 2.75 ERA in 118 innings pitched, with 157 strikeouts. Against the league’s best offense in the Astros last time out, Schezer gave up two runs in seven innings allowing only five hits. He will be pitching against a Phillies team that is coming in hot. After sweeping the Mets to take a two game lead in the NL East. They are 8-2 in the last ten and one of the best home teams in baseball where this game will be played. Phillies Bryce Harper is hitting .299 with 20 home runs and 45 RB. His above .325 average since the All Star break has really carried the Phillies offense and has got the whole team hot. The Phillies will send Aaron Nola to the mound who has a rough 2021 for his standards. Nola is 7-6 on the season with a 4.49 ERA in 126.1 IP. Nola has the be better down the stretch but with how the offense has played he doesn’t need to be great. He was not great against the Nationals last time out giving up five earned runs, allowing five hits in five innings pitched against. The job will be harder against the Dodgers. August has been good to the Dodgers bats as they are .276 the highest for any month thus far. The Dodgers average the second most runs in the league with 5.2, and average more runs on the road than they do at home. However we believe the Dodgers will keep the run total under four against Nola. The Phillies bullpen is the one to be worried about. Their 4.45 ERA has a pen isn’t something to be proud of and give Phillies fans many heart attacks throughout the experience. Mad Max will pitch well against former divisional rivals. Nola will give a couple runs but bare down. Bet the under hits and the Phillies may steal a game against the Dodgers.

Yankees vs Royals

Royals +134 ML

The Royals and Yankees played a whole game last night in Kansas City. The Royals fell down in the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th. To later tie the game up in the bottom of half of those innings. The Royals would lose in the 11th when the Yankees got three runs across to take home the win 8-6. The Royals comeback crazy game fell short. However, today is a new day and we think we can get a good steal here. The Yankees will be without Anthony Rizzo who is on the Covid list. The Yankees are in the Wildcard race being only two games back of their division rival the Red Sox for the second final Wildcard. The Yankees are 8-2 since the deadline. Their new acquisitions Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo have loved that short left porch in Yankees stadium. However they will be without Rizzo and they are away for today’s game. Nestor Cortes Jr will be taking the ball for the Yankees tonight. Cortes Jr will be making his fifth start of the season. He has a record of 0-0 with a 2.15 ERA in 37.2 IP. Last time out he pitched five innings only allowing two runs against the Mariners. Cortes Jr won’t go long but Yankees starters really just need to chew up innings and allow few runs to consider the game a good start. The bullpen is still a top five bullpen in the league who manager Aaron Boone ways having on. The Royals are not a good team. They are eighteen games out of first in the AL Central and 3-7 in their last ten. The offense is ranked 21st in batting average twenty-seventh in home runs in a home run league. So why take them? Well they are very good at home. 28-26 which is the only winning stat they got. The Royals will send Daniel Lynch to mound who is 2-3 in five starts. Lunch pitched four innings last time out only giving up one earned run to a great White Sox lineup. We think Lynch can give the Yankees some problems as a well , especially Joey Gallo. Lynch will not pitch against a healthy Yankees lineup will be without Rizzo, Gleyber Torres, and Gio Urshela. We think Lynch can go four to five innings and keep the 23rd ranked offense in runs at bay. The Royals show up for the Yankees and will fight in this one. The Royals stun the Yankees slightly today.
