Giants vs Reds
Giants ML +100
Well if you didn’t know the Giants are the best team in the NL West. Yes look it up. They lead the Padres by a half game and the Dodgers by two games. They do this through their pitching. The Giants have the fourth best ERA in the league. Anthony DeSclafani is taking the bump tonight for the Giants. In his last outing he gave up no runs in 5IP against the Pirates. He’s been a strong point for the Giants over the last month and a half. The Reds were a top offense in April but have been slipping as of late. They still are second in runs but when it comes down to pitching or hitting 7 times out of 10 I’ll probably choose pitching. The Reds slip to fourth in the NL Central going 5-5 in their last 10. Considering trends of teams expect Giants to pull this one out.
Indians vs Angels
Indians ML +100
For me this is an easy take on the Indians. Even though they lost last time out 7-4 they have a lot going for them in this contest. For example Mike Trout will miss today due to a calf strain. A big part of the Angels winning is their offense. They are missing the MVP of the league and the offense will be sluggish tonight. The Angels are already struggling being fourth in the AL West and a below .500 record. A lot of those struggles are due to their starting pitching which has been terrible. Ohanti isn’t on the mound so expect the starter Andrew Heaney to not be dominant. Heaney is 1-3, with an ERA of 4.75. Last time out Heaney got roughed up for five runs in 5 1/3 IP. The Indians are second in the AL Central. Zach Plesac is on the mound for the Indians he’s 3-3, with a 3.56 ERA in 2021. Last time out against the Mariners he pitched seven no hits innings. He finished allowing two runs in eight but nonetheless great outing. Expect the same for Plesac tonight. Ride the Indians they are way more consistent in 2021 than the Angels.
Athletics vs Astros
Astros ML
The Astros are the favorite so maybe parlay this game with the over or under we offer below. However if you do take a small bet and small reward the Astros are a good team to bet on. Houston lost last time out against the Athletics. Even more reason to bet on them in the regular season baseball unfortunately. The Astros have been playing some good baseball as of late. The Astros have been hitting the cover off the ball lately. Being third in the league in runs, second in hits, and third in on base percentage. They are 19-8 against AL West Division opponents. Where the Athletics are 2-5. Oakland leads the division so the game does have a sense of meaning even in May. Each starter is pretty even to each other Cristian Javier has a 3.08 ERA, with a 3-1 record, striking out 44. Athletics Sean Manaea is 3-2 with a 4.40 ERA. So in reality Javier is a run better, even more reason to take Astros in this one.
Red Sox vs Blue Jays
Over 9
Yes, even with the great Hyun Jin Ryu on the mound for the Blue Jays, they beat them in the first matchup of the Blue Jays against the Red Sox. Ryu is 3-2 with a 2.95 ERA in the 2021 season. He does what he’s supposed to do out there he kills about six innings a game and has a strike out an inning. He has 38 strikeouts in 39 innings with nearly no walks with just five with five home runs. Ryu gives up hits with 37 on him in 2021 but he gets around these hits because he doesn’t walk people. You can bet on that against the Red Sox. The Sox are the league leaders in runs, doubles, and hits. The Sox are on fire at the plate hitting .264/.326/.446 as a team. Ryu gives up hits he doesn’t give up runs but with the Red Sox runs are almost guaranteed when the offense gets going with hits. Why bet the over not for the Red Sox? Because we can’t trust the streaky Sox. They did nothing the last two seasons for me to trust them. So just go with the over. Especially since the Sox are sending out lefty Eduardo Rodriguez to start. Rodriguez didn’t pitch last year so his 5-1 record is impressive. However he does have a 4.15 ERA. Meaning he can give up runs. Which he will do against the Jays offense which is in top half of the league in most offensive stats. Take the over in the AL East matchup.
