The Yankees are back
The Boys are Back in Town
Let’s be real the Yankees are back in where they should be. You don’t get 27 World Series champions on accident. Especially in playoff baseball, anything can happen; and the Yankees are once again proving they belong. The Indians took a 2-0 lead on these young Bronx Bombers. When you are down 2-0 the team that is leading the series has a 64.9% winning game 3 to end the series. Especially with the Indians pitching staff led by Corey Kluber who is a 2017 AL CY Young candidate; also who has playoff experience posting a 1.59 ERA in the ALCS and 2.81 in the World Series last postseason. The Yankees quickly got to Kluber in Game 2 and in the series; Kluber went from a 0.00 in the LDS last fall to a 12.79 ERA this time around however.
Even after an awful start to game 2, there was no worry for the Indians. They came storming back on the Yankees off of a Joe Girardi poor manager abilities which are just being shown in the big spotlight. He was a catcher for the Yankees and his catcher Gary Sanchez says the ball was foul or tipped. Girardi says no I’m not going to trust my catcher like Joe Torre would have done. I’m just going to let Fransico Lindor take his shot with the base loaded who posted a .305 average last postseason. What does Lindor do? Take that ball delivered on a plate to right field to put them down 1. Jay Bruce also doesn’t take that long to make the game even at 8 with a home run from himself. Judge and Sanchez can’t get Frazier home as Joe Smith works his way out of a jam in the top of the 9th. The Indians really don’t have anything going for them in the 9th; so at 8-8 we are going to extras. Fast Forward to the 13th Betances pitching with 3-2 count, no outs, Indians Gomes comes up and hits a walkoff single down the line in left to bring home the winning run for the Indians to go up 2-0 on these baby Bronx Bombers.
It looks like it's over the Yankee season is over what a run but an unexpected team. No so fast you have to play in the Bronx first. The Yankees take those two games quick fast and a hurry behind the arms of Sonny Gray and Tanaka at their home. Now it’s back to Cleveland where the Yankees behind sluggish CC Sabitha go against Kluber who is not someone that messes up twice. Well These Yankees jump on Kluber or should I say Jeter’s replacement Didi Gregorius hitting two bombs off of the rubber arm of Kluber. The Yankees add 2 more in the 5th; Chapman closes the door on an amazing comeback in the 9th; with the final score 5-2 Yankees with a ticket to Houston.
Now Houston the journey in the first two games it looks like the magic has ran out. The Astros coming in hot taking 3 of 4 from the Red Sox in dominating fashion; these Yankees have no shot. Dallas Keuchel pitching a gem his first game with really no offense but 2 runs is all he would need. The Astros win 2-1in Game 1. Game 2 Verlander apparently was eating the same thing Keuchel was. He said after the game he felt as if he never “threw more strikes than I have today.” With back to back hits by Altuve and Correa in the bottom of the 9th off of Chapman; a drop by Sanchez at the plate where they had Altuve out if he catches it; the Astros took a 2-0 lead just like the Indians. This series however is to 4 games not 3 so their is more hope. The Astros got bad word they have to go the Bronx where the Yankees this postseason after 2 games against the Indians look unstoppable.
They proved this unstoppable remark. Destroying the Astros pitching staff in Game 3 with an 8-1 victory. All their runs came with 2 outs; clutch just what the Yankees have always been. Game 4 no different story from Cleveland down 4-0 in the late innings. They explode for 2 in the bottom of the 7th and here we go again. In the 8th, ALL RISE has Aaron Judge takes a break from home runs and strikeouts but gives them a game tying double. The Yankees finish off the comeback with a 4 run 8th and locked down the 9th by Chapman; and the Yankees are back.
Game 5 is tonight and the Yankees are showing signs of what they did to the Indians. All the momentum is in the Yankees hands tonight. They are home where they are undefeated this postseason with Tanaka going to the mound. However Houston’s Correa and manager AJ Hinch says they are not pancing. Which they shouldn’t they had this amazing season for a reason. They are sending Dallas Keuchel to the mound who has already proved he can pitch in big games. Can he pitch however what CC Sabathia calls “The loudest it's ever been” referring to Yankee Stadium; and he has won a World Series there. I believe he can but I think the Yankees are getting hot at the right time. Maybe the greatest bullpen ever the Yankees have, and they are doing what we expected. I believe the Yankees take Game 5; 5-3 tonight; and ride into Houston up 3-2. One win away from where they call home the World Series.
